I love this stone, not only is it beautiful but local here on the Kenai Peninsula. I have been told that if you camp at one of the sites next to the ocean in Hope, Alaska, that you can go out when the tide is out and harvest your own hope stones. If you prefer, the other option is Hope Stone LLC, which provides exceptional quality stone products to Alaskans which are otherwise scarcely available from in state suppliers.

Hope Stone LLC provides exceptional quality stone products to Alaskans which are otherwise scarcely available from in state suppliers. Their main competitors are out of state suppliers who's product prices are not only higher but also require a hefty freight fee to get stones to Alaska. They offer a local product which carries a customer satisfaction seal of approval and is conveniently available to Alaskan consumers.

“ Excellent place to get exactly what you need, right from the rock quarry. ”

Hope Stone's story

Hope Stone LLC is a small father and son owned and operated stone quarry in Hope, Alaska. It was founded by a geology buff who was hunting in the mountains of Hope when he stumbled across a large, fine quality deposit of ancient seabed slate stone. When Henry Drechnowicz saw the quality of his discovery he also saw the potential for the market of this beautiful stone. After acquiring the proper permits and staking his claim, H.D. embarked on his new endeavor full of enthusiasm and faith in his new found treasure. Starting with nothing more than a chainsaw, a few picks and a shovel he cut a trail into the hill and began packing out stones by hand. At first Henry was only filling a few small orders a month, but in time his business started to evolve. Soon the stone caught on in the home building and landscaping market and Henry's rocks started to turn a profit. Over the years the business has grown and developed but, you can still find H.D. up in the hills of Hope, Alaska with his pick, shovel and xtratuff boots.
